ABOUT THE PROJECT
As part of my college’s VR course, I had developed a small concept game, called The Long Night. It’s a basic VR game with very simplistic mechanics.

POST MORTEM
What Went Right:
-
As working on VR was extremely new to me, I was worried about how to import any VR mechanics to be able to test and make certain mechanics. Thankfully, that was one of the things that actually went right for me.
-
Another thing to go right for me was how the level ended up looking. Looking back on it, despite my extreme lack of knowledge on level design, I was thankful to be able to find good assets some of which were already in place in the level I wanted to build at the time.
-
The lighting in the level, despite being one of the hardest things for me to get right, I managed to somehow get that also working for me in Unity.
What Went Wrong:
-
The enemies while they were initially working right, didn't work as they intended. At least, when it came to their animations. No matter how hard I tried to fix them, I was unable to do much.
-
The health system in the game was done in a very rudimentary fashion that I would have to say it was one of the things that I not just overlooked. But when I tried to fix it and make alterations, they didn't work, again, as intended.
-
Player movement in VR was something I had aimed to add in the game. However, with my then extreme lack of knowledge, I was unsuccessful in adding that in to my game and allowing the player to traverse the level.
