Plugo Farm (PlayShifu)(

A new IP as part of PlayShifu's arsenal of games on their various platforms, Plugo Farm is a game that was developed for their AR platform, Plugo. The game revolved around managing a farm using the figurines that came along with the game. This also included managing produce and customers of the farm. Built on Unity, this project involved the use of Spine 2D for character animations in-game, thus enabling it to become a 2.5D game on their platform.

As this was the first full project since my onboarding at PlayShifu as their first Game Design Ops Engineer, I was responsible for ensuring a smooth connection between the the devs and the designers. This involved creating and maintaining excel sheets that not only record the values being used, but also converts the data into javascript for use by the developers.

During this project, there were quite a few minor issues that would often arise for the devs with most of them arising as a result of the Spine 2D animations being a little off. This would result in a discussion between me and the designers to ensure that the animations got corrected. This oftentimes created a few delays as most of the designers were working on more than one project at the same time. To counteract these delays, and because a large majority of these animation issues were small issues in terms of timing, I created a prototype of an editor tool that would aid the developers with this problem.

POST MORTEM

What Went Right:

  • Team Cohesion - Due to the vast number of games I have played, most of which were either puzzle or tile-based games, I was able to come up with quite a few ideas come to me in a short time frame.

  • Deliverables - Due to the clearly provided instructions for the mechanic, I was able to quickly and efficiently create and implement the Ice Break tile mechanic in a short span of time.

  • Skills - We managed to keep the transitions between each of our sublevels and make the level more cohesive and flowing. To take different sublevels and try to merge them to make them more adhesive and close-knit is a difficult task, and I would say we managed to do that pretty

What Went Wrong:

As this was my first project while working at PlayShifu, there were no problems. Despite the lack of experience in terms of what my job entailed, the team I worked with for this project were accomodating towards me. I was able to complete the tasks given to me in as timely a manner as possible and to the best of my efforts!
